Eastham Beaches
• A WorldWeb.com Travel Guide to Beaches in Eastham, Massachusetts.
This site on Cape Cod encompasses several miles of beach, dozens of freshwater ponds, lighthouses, nature trails and picnic areas and swimming beaches.
The towering dunes that once enchanted the likes of author David Thoreau and naturalist Henry Beston still stand as an impressive component of this beach. An old Coast Guard station still stands, hence the beach's name. The water is cold but pristine.
This expansive and attractive beach on the shore of Cape Cod Bay was the site of the first encounter between the local First Nations people and a group of pilgrims from the Mayflower in 1620. The locals let fly some arrows in warning, and the pilgrims moved on to Plymouth. The beach is a popular place to watch the sun go down and has restroom facilities but no lifeguards on duty.
